This is a great fitness drill that focuses on building explosive lateral speed and improves agility.

Basketball Drill Diagram: Zig-Zag Run



Set up 8 cones in a zig-zag pattern about 5 yards apart.  Set another cone 15 yards from the last cone.



Players should run at a 45 degree angle planting their right foot and driving off to the left, then planting their left foot and driving off to the right, alternating each cone. When the player reaches the last cone in the zig-zag series, have them sprint to the cone placed 15 yards out.
